Galerie Bernd Kugler is pleased to present Body and Soul, an exhibition which brings together works by three contemporary artists: Edith Dekyndt, Thilo Heinzmann and Elke Silvia Krystufek.

Body and Soul directs the viewer's gaze to the sensual, the interplay of mind and body, our ideas of the temporary and the eternal. We find it in Thilo Heinzmann's pigment application which appears as if breathed on–witnesses of ephemeral constellations or drifts. We encounter it in the sculptural twists, folds, and shadows of Edith Dekyndt's painterly fabric works. And we sense in Elke Krystufek's male nude a physicality that shows itself and yet evades our gaze as if unpleasantly touched. Sensuality does not always have to be pleasant, the body not always healthy, the soul not always in harmony. As a figure of speech, Body and Soul means the human being as a whole and at the same time names his/her divisibility.

Die Galerie Bernd Kugler freut sich, mit Body and Soul Werke dreier zeitgenössischer Künstler:innen in einer Ausstellung zusammenzuführen: Edith Dekyndt, Thilo Heinzmann und Elke Silvia Krystufek.

Body and Soul lenkt den Blick der Betrachter:in auf das Sinnliche, das Zusammenspiel von Geist und Körper, unsere Vorstellungen von Vorübergehendem und Ewigen. Wir finden es in Thilo Heinzmanns wie gehauchten Pigmentauftrag, Zeugen ephemerer Konstellationen oder Verwehungen. Wir begegnen ihm in den skulpturalen Windungen, Falten und Schatten der malerischen Stoffarbeiten Edith Dekyndts. Und wir empfinden in Elke Krystufeks Männerakt eine Körperlichkeit, die sich zeigt und dennoch wie unangenehm berührt unseren Blicken ausweicht. Sinnlichkeit muss nicht immer angenehm sein, der Körper nicht immer gesund, die Seele nicht immer im Einklang. Als Sprachfigur meint Body and Soul den Menschen als Ganzes und benennt aber auch zugleich sein Teilbares.
